El Carmen is another of Panama City's most attractive residential neighborhoods, located in the north end of the city alongside such districts as Obarrio, El Cangrejo, Altos del Golf and Paitilla. Also a favorite among affluent and middle class Panamanians, this neighborhood blends modern condominiums with detached houses, as well as several respected private schools, making it an ideal choice for families.

Homes are loosely gathered around a central park, with a large colonial-style fountain, many venerable old trees, and a children's playground. The neighborhood is very tranquil, and receives little of the city's traffic. Residents can walk to nearby amenities, including supermarkets and shops.
