La Cresta is a classic, well-established neighborhood in the west of Panama City, next to El Cangrejo and flanking the Corredor Norte (Northern Expressway). It lies west of the Metropolitan Park, a 232-hectare swath of protected rainforest dubbed the 'Lungs of the City', and just minutes from the downtown core and banking district. This neighborhood sits on a small crest, from which it gets its name, giving it a view onto Via España and the hotel Panama.
Once the center of Panama City, La Cresta enjoys a reputation as a posh and quiet neighborhood much favored by the Panama elite. Its mostly affluent homes are a blend of old-style Spanish Colonial mansions and modern condominium high-rises, marked by fine architecture and sprinkled with pleasant green areas.
